Abdullah Abdulsalam Al-Thawr from Yemen (3,000 USD)
Title of the Essay: Anticorruption Actions Vs Transparency claims: the role of youth
Abdullah is the Program Coordinator of the Democracy School, a NGO that promotes human rights and youth participation. Abdulla is about to start his studies in engineering.
His essay focuses on youth involvement to support the anticorruption actions in Yemen such as:
- The creation of a Youth Consultative Council
- The constitution of a Children Parliament
- A national initiative to support transparency in schools
1st Place (ex-aequo)
Fabian Wajner Adler from Uruguay (3,000 USD)
Title of the Essay: Corruption and education, a matter of trust
Fabian studies International Affairs at the University of Montevideo.
His essay focuses on the development of an educational program to reinforce the logic of trust among young people.
He suggests the creation of incubators to recreate an "ideal public system" which includes anticorruption and transparency management measures.
3rd Place
Olumide Adekola Adewoye from Nigeria. (1,000 USD)
Title of the essay: Corruption-the Nigeria Situation.
The essay suggests a revision of the existing anticorruption agencies in Nigeria in order to ensure independence and fairness.
Olumide believes that continuous public enlightment and education campaigns are viable tools to fight corruption.
Olumide formed a club called "Say no, Act right" which organizes talk shows, provides mentoring activities to students and give recognition ad awards to those who are on the forefront in the battle against corruption.
